TFI Local Link will launch a new bus service between Castletownbere and Kenmare from the 30th of December.

Connecting Ireland logo (smaller)This new route is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.

Route 282 bus servicing Eyeries, Ardgroom, Lauragh, Tuosist and Dawros

Route 282 will operate four daily return services seven days a week including on public holidays. The new route will offer peak-time services and provide enhanced connectivity to regional bus services in Kenmare and Castletownbere. It will also improve connectivity for the villages and areas of Eyeries, Ardgroom, Lauragh, Tuosist and Dawros.

Speaking ahead of the launch TFI Local Link Kerry General Manager Alan O’Connell said: “This new service is another real example of the ongoing enhancement of rural transport services in Ireland. The National Transport Authority and TFI Local Link are dedicated to offering residents in rural areas more sustainable travel options.

Route 282 is a fantastic service for the area, which up to now, has never had a public transport service seven days a week 52 weeks of the year. This service is long anticipated and will be very welcomed by the Community and Tourists who wish to visit this beautiful area.”
