JJ Kavanagh & Sons Providing a smoother, cleaner, and more comfortable journey for passengers.
Passengers traveling on Route 139, which operates between Blanchardstown and Naas, will now benefit from five state-of-the-art hybrid buses which were introduced to the route on 4th February 2025.
This investment underscores NTA’s commitment to delivering sustainable and accessible public transport services.
Operated by JJ Kavanagh & Sons, the new single-deck, low-floor buses are designed to provide a smoother, cleaner, and more comfortable journey for passengers. They also offer improved wheelchair accessibility, making public transport more inclusive for all users.
Route 139 connects key destinations, including TU Blanchardstown, Maynooth University, Naas Hospital, and multiple bus and rail services, facilitating seamless onward connections.
The introduction of hybrid buses supports increased capacity along the route, enabling more frequent and environmentally friendly journeys. This investment builds on impressive passenger growth, with numbers increasing 45% between 2023 and 2024.
In response to growing demand, the service frequency was doubled in April 2024, making Route 139 an even more attractive option for commuters, students and visitors alike.
The service accepts both TFI Leap and cash payments for adult, young adult, and child fares. Free Travel Pass holders can also avail of this service.
Paul Kavanagh, Managing Director of JJ Kavanagh and Sons said: “At JJ Kavanagh, we believe that public transport should be accessible to everyone, including those with mobility challenges, and that sustainability is key to our future. This investment is a testament to our commitment to not only meet the needs of our diverse community but also to pave the way for a greener tomorrow.”
