Today on our #MoreThanTransport series, we celebrate Ger Egan, whose kindness to his passengers extends beyond the doors of his bus.
Ger is a driver for TFI Local Link Laois Offaly, and has gone above and beyond to ensure his passengers are well taken care of. One passenger affirms he is greatly popular, and that he ‘treats them with great kindness and care at all times’.
‘During the pandemic, Ger did many grocery shop drop-offs and chemist collections. He called door-to-door to his regular passengers just to make sure they were not stuck for any supplies, and also simply to have a quick chat with them. It was during one such conversation when Ger was talking to Mary and John at the door of their house that Mary mentioned she would cancel their regular medical appointment in Moate the following day as their taxi driver had ceased operating due to Covid.
Ger did not hesitate in suggesting he could help them make it to their appointment and indeed did so for many of the weeks that followed much to the delight of the couple. Mary says she and her husband ‘will be forever grateful to him’. – TFI Local Link passenger.
