RETURN OF THE BIKE

DOCTOR BIKE
Bike Mechanics will set up a mobile bike servicing station with the help of some club members. CHILDREN’S CYCLE TREASURE HUNT
Children will be accompanied by their parents in Bonny Glen Woods, which is a vehicle free wooded area with different paths etc. They will hunt for clues to find a magical cycling word. SCHOOL CYCLING EXPERIENCE

MURROE BEACH CYCLE
Children, teachers and parents from Murroe NS will be joined by local Gardai in a cycle to the local beach. They will do a beach clean up and then have lunch. The younger children will return to school by bus while the older classes will cycle back to the school. SAFETY CHECK AND GREENWAY CYCLE
Pupils from Scoil Naomh Bríd Muff will conduct a guided cycle along the new greenway from Muff towards Quigley’s point. This will be preceded by a safety check of bikes, helmets etc. Pupils will also be encouraged to cycle to school throughout the week also with a tally to be kept of those who cycle each day. Any pupil who cycles to school twice throughout the week will receive a small reward on Friday. CULLY CYCLE SAFE
Community bike safety event that aims to educate cyclists of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds on the importance of bike safety while providing a fun and engaging space for attendees to meet like-minded individuals. TUESDAY 14TH MAY 2024 |
EVENING COMMUNITY CYCLE
This event aims to encourage participation in the form of a social group cycle, featuring both members from the local cycling club and nonmembers interested in getting into cycling. There will be a 25km and 40km route with full road marshalls etc for safety. Cycling related spot prizes for those taking part. BIKE WEEK SCHOOLS VISIT
Members of the local cycling club will visit 5 of the local schools to demonstrate and promote cycling in an attempt to attract more young people to cycling in the area. BIKE WEEK LOCAL RADIO INTERVIEW

WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY 2024 |
GLENVEAGH CYCLE
Pupils from Drumman NS will take part in a cycle on the grounds of Glenveagh National Park. LADIES CYCLE
Finn Wheelers CC will host a Ladies only cycle event to encourage women to get more involved in cycling and to build up female participation in the club. Participants will be encouraged to get involved to get involved in a Couch to 30k program that will start after Bike Week Time: 7pm-9.30pm Date: Wednesday 15th May 2024 Location: Ballybofey Suitability: Women over the age of 18 |
SCHOOL CYCLING TRIP

ALL ABOUT THE BIKE
Children from the local schools will attend a talk about the benefits of cycling and will be provided with light refreshments. This will be followed in the evening by a gathering for those involved in the Dublin to Drimarone Charity Cycle involving a short cycle followed by some refreshments. LUNCHTIME SPIN
Staff from the Public Services Centre in Donegal will enjoy a leisurely cycle, healthy lunch and will be reminded about the importance of exercise for our wellbeing. Staff will be informed about the ‘Cycle to Work Scheme’ and encouraged to try out some new ‘Electric Bikes’. BICYCLE SAFETY AND FUN DAY
This event aims to promote cycling in a safe environment regardless of ability or disability. Instructors from Grassroutes will facilitate a bike safety and skills session for participants. ST MARY’S STRANORLAR BIKE FUN DAY
A teacher from St Mary’s and another instructor will take pupils for different fun bike themed activities such as slow bike races and bike obstacle courses. There will also be a demonstration on bike maintenance. Children will also be encouraged to cycle to school throughout the week with those that do being receiving small rewards. CYCLE ACTION LETTERKENNY
In conjunction with the weekly Farmers Market in ATU Letterkenny, there will be a number of bike orientated activities, they include an adult beginners course, where tutors will support those new to cycling or those who may not have cycled for a long time, in practicing the basics and growing in confidence on a bike in a safe, vehicle free area of ATU car park. There will also be a pop up Bike clinic in which bike mechanics will examine and service bikes for anyone who drops in. There will be an effort made to encourage people to commute to the ATU campus by bike with anyone who arrives on bike being entered into a raffle to win a range of different cycling themed prizes. INCLUSIVE BIKE RIDE

SUNDAY BREAKFAST CYCLE
The event will be a 30km or 40km route with a breakfast stop at mid distance for participants. The goal is to encourage participation in a social group cycle for club and non-club members. BARRACK HILL TOWN PARK FAMILY CYCLE
A fun community event aimed at getting the whole community involved to rediscover the joy of social cycling. Participants will find out how convenient cycling can be for a quick trip to the shops etc. There will be more accessible bikes available for anyone with additional needs. There will also be a bike obstacle course at the event on the day as well as an opportunity to get some bike accessories such as bells and reflectors. FAMILY FUN CYCLE DAY AND BBQ
The family fun cycle day will involve running a small skills-based obstacle course in the carpark of the Community Centre for the children, to help develop and improve coordination and balance, before gathering everyone together to go on a guided cycle around the Maghery area. Finishing up back at the Community Centre for a BBQ. The event will help bring together the whole community including the current Ukrainian families that are in the area and help integrate the children and families. It will also encourage those who have still been hesitant to get out and active after the winter to join in a fun filled event and inspire them to continue being active.
