Bus Éireann drivers are carefully selected and undergo extensive training before they are allowed to drive. They are all required to possess and maintain a Certificate of Professional Competence.

All Bus Éireann staff including Drivers are subject to an Alcohol and Drugs Policy.

  • Never cross the road in front of or behind a bus
  • Stand back from busses when they are approaching/departing
  • Be aware of moving luggage doors
  • Do not climb into luggage compartments
  • Place your full foot on the step when boarding the bus or going upstairs on the bus
  • Use handrails where available
  • Use seat belts where available
  • Allow the bus to come to a stop before you get up to exit
  • Be aware of cyclists passing by when boarding/exiting the bus
