During this temporary closure Luas Red Line services will operate to / from Jervis stop and a replacement bus service will be provided for people using all stops east of Jervis. The bus stops will be located on the Quays a short walking distance from the closed Luas stops. The replacement bus service will start on Bachelor’s Walk near Jervis, serve 5 stops along the quays and then terminate on Castleforbes Road near The Point. The return service will start on Mayor Street Upper near The Point, serve 4 stops along the quays and then terminate on Crampton Quay across the Liffey River from Jervis.

These temporary Luas stop closures are necessary to facilitate Luas Cross City construction works on O’Connell Street and Marlborough Street. Luas Cross City will cross the Luas Red Line going north on O’Connell Street and going south on Marlborough Street. These works will install new Luas tracks and power cables at the junction of O’Connell Street and Abbey Street and the junction of Marlborough Street and Abbey Street where the Green Line will cross the Red Line.

Notes to the Editor

Temporary Closure Dates: 9pm Sat 21st May to the end of July. Works are scheduled to take circa 2 months and the closed Luas stops are due to re-open at the end of July. This information will be updated and the re-opening date confirmed as works progress during the June and July.

Temporarily Closed Stops: The following Luas Red Line stops will be temporarily closed; Abbey Street, Busáras, Connolly, George’s Dock, Mayor Square – NCI, Spencer Dock and The Point. The Luas Green Line will not be affected.

Operating to Jervis: To facilitate these works Luas will be installing a temporary tram crossover on Middle Abbey Street between Jervis and O’Connell Street. This crossover will allow trams to run to Jervis where passengers will get off, cross to the opposite tracks on Abbey Street Middle and then run outbound to Tallaght / Saggart.

Tickets: People don’t need a ticket for the replacement bus. However, they do need a valid ticket for tram services. Leap Card customers should Touch On/Off at Jervis stop. Customers who buy tickets from ticket machines should buy a ticket to/from Jervis stop.

The replacement bus service will have similar operating hours to Luas services. The frequency of the buses is designed to match the frequency of the tram services to Jervis. As with tram services the frequency of the replacement bus services will vary throughout the day.
