This October Bank Holiday will be a particularly busy weekend in Dublin with railway line improvement works being carried out by Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), and the return of the Dublin Marathon.
This Sunday, 30 October, the Dublin Marathon returns with over 200,000 participants. This will cause significant disruption for the duration of the event.

Belfast, DART & Northern Commuter Services
Engineering works will take place between Belfast and Howth Junction & Donaghmede/Howth stations on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st October. There will be no train service between Belfast and Howth Junction & Donaghmede/Howth. The following arrangements will apply:
Cork, Limerick, Tralee, Galway, Westport & Portloaise
Please note that due to Engineering Works between Portarlington and Thurles on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October, a number of alterations and arrangements will take place

Iarnród Éireann – Irish Rail Upcoming Line Improvement Works
Due to the Dublin Marathon taking place on Sunday, 30 October a number of restrictions will be in place from 19:30 on Friday 28 October until 18:00 on Monday 31 October 2022 affecting routes: 4, 7/a, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 15a/b, 16, 26, 27, 37, 38/a, 39/a, 40, 44, 46a. 47. 49, 52. 54a, 56a, 60, 61, 65/b, 68/a, 69, 70, 77a, 83, 122, 123, 145, 150, 151, 155, C1/2/3/4, & G1/2
Due to the Dublin Marathon taking place on Sunday, 30 October a number of restrictions will be in place from 7pm on Friday, 28 October to 4am on Monday, 31 October 2022.
Friday, 28 October and Saturday, 29 October
Routes NX and 100X: Due to the construction of the Marathon Structure, Routes NX and 100X will divert around Merrion Square East/South/West to resume route.
Sunday, 30 October
Delays may occur to services to/from Dublin.
Route NX: On Sunday, 30 October, Route NX services will terminate at Abbey St and commence from Beresford Place.
Route 100X: On Sunday, 30 October, Route 100X services will terminate at Dublin (Georges Quay) and commence from Custom House Quay.
Dublin’s South Quays will close at Ushers Quay from 8.15am to 10.10am.
Routes 4/X4, 22, 23, 115, 132 and 245X: Between 08:15 and 10:10, services will operate via the Port Tunnel onto the M50 southbound before proceeding back onto the normal route.
Route 2 and Route: Due to closure of Stillorgan Road/Merrion Road/Nutley Lane from first service to 7pm, services will operate via N11, Mount Merrion Ave, Rock Rd, Strand Rd, Beach Rd, Sean Moore Rd, Eastlink Toll Bridge, North Quays, Matt Talbot Bridge, Georges Quay, Butt Bridge, Busáras, Port Tunnel to Dublin Airport.
Services will drop-off/pick up at the Stillorgan Park Hotel and the Tara Towers Hotel.
Dublin will host the Irish Life Marathon on Sunday 30th October 2022. There will be a diversion in place affecting routes 17, 18 and 175
