New Route 19: Dublin Airport – DCU – Parnell Square
As part of Phase 6a we are introducing a new route 19 which will run from Dublin Airport, through Ballymun, on to Wadelai, through Drumcondra and on to the centre of Dublin.
The 19 will offer a 20-minute frequency or better at all times throughout the day, and at peak times will run every 10 minutes.
While the original proposal for the 19 was an hourly service with every service originating in the airport, the arrangement to be implemented in December is now much better that that. Having listened to feedback provided to us by local communities the frequency has been tripled from one service per hour, to three an hour at all times. In addition, frequency at peak times will be double that with a service every 10 minutes. What’s more, those additional peak services will all originate in Wadelai Park, the terminus of the current route 11. This ensures that users of the route 11 service in that area will have a similar experience to the one they are accustomed to.
Like the 11, the 19 will offer direct connectivity to the busy village of Drumcondra, but on a more frequent basis than is currently the case on the 11. This is good news for sports fans heading to Tolka Park or Croke Park and for students at DCU’s St Patrick’s Campus.
It’s also good news for anybody meeting family or friends for a cup of coffee, a bite to eat, or a drink in Drumcondra!
The 19 will:
Other services being implemented as part of Phase 6 will run across the city, arriving at bus stops every four to five minutes during the day. The E1 and E2 will both operate from north of Ballymun, along Ballymun Rd, to Glasnevin, through the city centre and out the N11 as far as Dun Laoghaire and Bray. Along the way they will connect third level colleges such as DCU, TUD, TCD and UCD. They will also provide services to hospitals including the Mater, the Rotunda, Temple St and Loughlinstown.
The E1 and E2 will operate on a 24-hour basis providing bus services along these routes throughout the night-time hours.
