BALLISODARE BAY CC CYCLING PHOTO COMPETITION
Join our Bike Week Photo Contest! Share your best cycling photos from the week that showcase the fun of cycling whilst promoting the benefits of cycling. To enter post your photos on Facebook and Tag @CyclingIreland and @BallisodareBayCyclingClub and @TFI – TransportforIreland and use hashtags #Bikeweek and #bbccphotocomp. Excellent prizes for the Winners. Time: 5am 11th May – 11.59pm 19th May Date: 11th – 19th May 2024 Location: Online – Ballisodare Bay Cycling Club Facebook Page Suitability: Entrants must be 18 years or over. Competition open to individuals participating in cycling activities in County Sligo. Photos must be related to cycling and taken during bike week. The entrant must be the original author of the photo and ensure that it does not infringe on any third-party rights. Permission must be obtained from any individual appearing in the photo. FAMILY FUN CYCLE FESTIVAL
Come and have fun on your bike with fun skills and drills for all ages and abilities. Bikes must be road worthy with working brakes and helmets must be wore at all times when cycling – both adults and children. CHILDRENS CYCLING SKILLS AND DRILLS FUN
Children fun cycling skills and drills session will be delivered by qualified coaches. Children will take part in fun obstacle courses to improve balance, pedalling, cornering and to build their confidence and skills on their bikes. Time: 4pm – 5pm Date: Saturday 11th May 2024 Location: Cleveragh Park, Sligo Suitability: This session is suitable for children who cannot cycle or are very nervous on their bikes, aged between 5 and 9 years. EAST CITY SUNSET CYCLE
Enjoy an evening leisure cycle from Riverside Hotel along the scenic bike trails of Doorly Park through to Cleveragh and Cairns Hill to watch the sunset over Sligo Town while enjoying some refreshments before returning to our starting point. COOLANEY COUNTRY SIDE CYCLE
Join us for an easy leisure paced guided cycle along the country roads of Coolaney and take in the beauty of the countryside by bicycle. No bike no problem, bikes are available for use. Rediscover the joy of cycling on this 45minutes cycles under the guidance of experience cycle guides, and enjoy some sweet refreshments in Café Fia afterwards and have a chat about future cycling programmes for the area. BALANCE BIKE FUN
A balance bike is a lightweight, pedal-less child’s bike which facilitates balance and propulsion. Children run along whilst seated, push off the ground to create forward movement and use their feet to slow down and stop safely. This session will help children gain confidence on a fun obstacle course supervised by cycling instructors. Parents will be shown tips and games they could play with their children to encourage them to stride and glide on the bike. Time: 2pm – 3pm Date: Sunday 12th May Location: Coolaney Community Park Suitability: For children aged 2 to 5 years. Parents must stay for full session. For more information click HERE |

Daily guided cycles designed to build confidence and cycling skills in a safe and friendly environment of the bike paths away from the busy roads. Find out about the 6 weeks follow on cycling skills weekly programme. BIRD SONG BY BIKE
Get yourself up early and enjoy one of nature’s miracles, the Dawn Chorus, as you spin along the Garavogue River enjoying the beautiful bird song followed by a quick chat about the birds that you are hearing, some tea/coffee and a breakfast treat. LUNCH TIME CYCLE
A 30minute guided leisure cycle on the cycle paths through charming Doorly & Cleveragh Park. Followed by lunch time refreshments at Riverside Hotel. Enjoy an evening leisure cycle along county roads of Enniscrone and finish at Enniscrone Beach followed by a taste of Beach Yoga while the sun sets to the sound of the Ocean. INTRODUCTION TO MOUNTAIN BIKING
As Ernest once said: ‘It is riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them’ and we couldn’t agree more. Join us for a beginner mountain biking lesson and let a bike take you places that a car never will. Learn the basics of this wonderful activity on Coolaney Mountain Bike Trails. Time: Each lesson is 1.5hrs long. Various age groups and session available. Date: Saturday 18th May 2024 Location: Coolaney National Mountain Bike Park Suitability: Various sessions for ages 8years to adults. Suitable for those new to mountain biking. BIKE ORIENTEERING FOR ALL
Taking place in an enclosed park, cycle the bikes trails while following your map to locate the markers, finish the course to get a reward. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Come as a group or as an individual for this exciting bike event. Time: 11am – 12.30pm Date: Sunday 19th May Location: Cleveragh Park Sligo Suitability: Suitable for all ages and abilities. Leisurely spin around scenic Strandhill peninsula, through Union and Ballygawley, coffee and refreshments in Castle Dargan Hotel with options to extend further around Lough Gill.
