Dublin Aviva Stadium is within walking distance (25 minutes) of the city centre and located in an area with good transport links.

Aviva Stadium is served by a number of different modes of public transport: DART (rail), Dublin Bus and Luas (tram) which bring you a short walk to the Stadium.

Mobility impaired fans are catered for as part of the transportation network in Dublin.

Entry Point

There are 5 coloured coded routes to access the stadium. The route you must take is dictated by the location of your seat within the stadium. The applicable route colour will be stated on your event ticket.

On event days stewards will be positioned outside the stadium to provide further assistance.

Walking:

The main mode of transport to and from the stadium should be walking. The Aviva Stadium is a 25 minute walk from Dublin City Centre. We encourage you to walk to and from the Aviva Stadium on game day.

Dame St to Aviva Stadium – 1.7 miles / 25 minutes
Trinity College to Aviva Stadium – 1.7 miles / 25 minutes
Baggot St to Aviva Stadium – 1 mile / 15 minutes

The Leap Visitor Card

DART (rail)

DART (rail) offers a service to and from Lansdowne Road Station which is immediately adjacent to the Aviva Stadium. The DART operates from the Dublin city centre stations of Connolly, Tara Street and Pearse Street.

Bus

Dublin Bus is Dublin’s local bus service. The Aviva Stadium is serviced by several bus routes.
It is recommended that you use a Leap Card to pay when travelling by Dublin Bus.

LUAS / tram

This is Dublin’s light rail tram system that operates two lines within Dublin’s city centre and the greater Dublin Area. There are two lines the Green line and the Red line.

The Red Line operates from Tallaght to 3Arena/Point Village and the Green Line from Brides Glen to Broombridge via St. Stephens Green. See below for further details.

Taxi

Taxis in Ireland can be hired on the street, at a taxi rank or pre-booked. Dublin city centre is well serviced by taxis with designated ranks at O’Connell Street, D’Olier Street, the South Quays, Dame Street. If a taxi roof light is on, it means the taxi is available for pick-ups and you can flag them down.

Road Closures

There will be a number of road closures and diversions by An Garda Síochána from 2pm. See below for road closure details.

Simply touch your card against a Validator. You will hear a tone to verify you have validated properly:

  • On Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland, touch the card against the Leap Card Validator on the right-hand side as you enter the bus.
  • On Luas (tram), Touch On at a Validator on the platform before you get on the tram and Touch Off when you get off the tram.
  • On DART and Commuter Rail, Touch On at the platform entry gate or Validator before your journey and Touch Off at the platform exit gate or Validator after your journey. The card can be used between stations within the Short Hop Zone.

Dublin Bus is Dublin’s local bus service. The Aviva Stadium is serviced by several bus routes.

It is recommended that you use a Leap Card to pay when travelling by Dublin Bus.

The direct bus routes to the Aviva Stadium from Dublin city centre include 4, 7, and 7a.

Dublin Bus will provide an enhanced bus service for these routes from O’Connell Bridge to Northumberland Rd (a 5-minute walk to the Aviva Stadium).

The expected length of a bus journey from Dublin city centre to the Aviva Stadium is estimated at 20 minutes.

Additional Dublin Bus routes 18, 38, 38A, 47, C1, C2 also service the Aviva Stadium depending on where you are travelling from.

We encourage you to use a Leap Card when using all public transport services.

Leaving the stadium

Dublin Bus is operating an enhanced bus service from Northumberland Rd (a 5-minute walk from the Aviva Stadium) to Dublin City Centre. The route numbers of these buses are 4 and 7. GET DIRECTIONS

There will be taxi ranks at D’Olier St.

There are three 24-hour Dublin bus services operating from the Point Village/New Wapping Street, next to the Three Arena (a 20-minute walk from the Aviva Stadium). The numbers of these buses are N4, G1 & G2. These bus routes bring people towards Blanchardstown, Liffey Valley and the Red Cow.

There will also be extended Dublin Bus services on Game Day and these routes are C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, 39A & 46A.

We advise you to familiarise yourself with the Dublin Bus route that best serves you from the Stadium to your desired location as it is a very convenient form of transport.

Charlemont (Green Line) is the closest Luas stop and a 25-minute walk from the stadium.

If you are travelling from Heuston station, take the Red Line to Connolly and change to the DART line there.

Leaving the Stadium
  • Dublin’s tram system operates two lines within Dublin’s city centre and the greater Dublin Area.  These two lines are the Red Line and the Green Line.
  • The Red Line operates from Tallaght to 3Arena/Point Village and the Green Line from Brides Glen to Broombridge via St. Stephens Green.
  • Trams run approximately every 8 minutes in each direction.  The real-time passenger information at the tram stop will indicate how long it will be until the next tram arrives.
  • The Luas Red Line from The Point Village / 3 Arena Stop is a 20-minute walk from the Aviva Stadium. This will bring you back to the city centre and towards Heuston Train station.
  • The Luas Green Line from the Charlemont stop is a 20-minute walk from the Aviva Stadium. This line will bring you South bound towards Ranelagh, and Sandyford or Northbound towards O’Connell St via St. Stephen’s Green and Dawson Street. The Green line will run until approximately 00.41 hrs on Sunday 27th August from Dublin City Centre.

  • DART runs along the coast of Dublin from Malahide or Howth (North Dublin), via Dublin city centre as far south as Greystones, Co. Wicklow.
  • In order for a seamless travel journey please purchase a Leap Card or return ticket to avoid delays.
  • Connolly Train Station, Tara St and Pearse Street Stations in Dublin City Centre will bring you southbound to Landsdowne Road DART Station.

Leaving the Stadium
  • Lansdowne Road DART Station is adjacent to the Aviva Stadium on Lansdowne Road.
  • Take the DART Northbound towards Howth/Malahide to Dublin City Centre: Pearse, Tara St and Connolly Station or Southbound toward Greystones or Bray.
  • There will be enhanced DART services post-game from Lansdowne Road DART Station to Dublin City Centre, stopping at Pearse, Tara Street and Connolly Stations.
  • Please use your leap card when taking the DART.
  • There are designated taxi ranks in Dublin City Centre close to Connolly, Tara & Pearse Stations and O’Connell Street, D’Olier Street, the South Quays and Dame Street.

  • All side roads off the roads listed above will be closed to through traffic

The following roads will be subject to roads closures and diversions by An Garda Síochána from approx. 4.30pm:

  • Shelbourne Road
  • Lansdowne Road
  • Ballsbridge Avenue
  • Beatty’s Avenue
  • Herbert Road
  • Newbridge Avenue

Patrons are requested to be aware that the Aviva Stadium is located in a primarily residential area. Patrons attending are requested to respect residents by behaving in an appropriate manner when arriving at and departing from the Stadium.

Lansdowne Road DART level crossing barriers will close three hours prior to the event and remain down for the duration of the event to facilitate free movement of trains.

Pedestrians will transverse the railway line via the under-pass in the Aviva Stadium. Vehicular Traffic will not be permitted when the DART level crossing barriers are down.


Aviva Stadium days and events:
There is no bike parking or car parking available at Aviva Stadium on match day/ concerts for security reasons.

From Nassau Street at Trinity College (city centre), travel along Merrion Square and Lower Mount Street. Cross the canal and continue along Northumberland Road to the second set of lights. Turn left onto Lansdowne Road. Continue through the next junction. Aviva Stadium is on your left.

There is a car park located just past entrance A on the right hand side also. The car park has an hourly and daily max charge and is open 24 hours per day. This car park is not available on match days as the surrounding roads are closed.

Leaving the Stadium

The following roads will be subject to roads closures and diversions by An Garda Síochána until the event is finished:

  • − Bath Avenue
  • − Londonbridge Road
  • − Lansdowne Road from Herbert Bridge to Shelbourne Road
  • − Lansdowne Park
  • − Shelbourne Road
  • − Lansdowne Road
  • − Ballsbridge Avenue
  • − Beatty’s Avenue
  • − Herbert Road
  • − Newbridge Avenue

The following roads will be subject to additional roads closures and diversions by An Garda Síochána from approx. 10pm:

  • − Northumberland Rd from the junction with Pembroke Rd to the junction with Clanwilliam Place

All road closures will be put in place and manned for the duration of the closure by An Garda Síochána as required to ensure that there is no un-authorised access to closed roads and to ensure that traffic moves freely outside of the closure area prior to and after the event.

You can take a taxi to the Aviva Stadium.

If you are travelling from the city centre it can take anywhere between 9 and 16 minutes, depending on traffic.
