TRAVEL OPTIONS

Portlaoise & Portarlington

Portlaoise Train Station is the closest station to the festival. There will be a shuttle bus service running from the Portlaoise Train Station to Electric Picnic. Information about these service is available below in our ‘By Shuttle Bus’ section

Martley’s will be running a cash-ony shuttle bus from Portlaoise train station to Stradbally.

If you are travelling by train or are local to these areas, there are multiple shuttle services operating to Electric Picnic

Marathon Coaches are operating hourly services from North Wall Quay, Bus stop number:7623, from Thursday to Sunday.

  • Departure Times from Dublin:
    Thursday: 14:00 – 19:00, on the hour, each hour.
    Friday: 07:00 – 13:00, every half hour; 13:00 – 18:00, on the hour, each hour.
    Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00, on the hour, each hour.
    Sunday: 10:00 – 12:00 noon, on the hour, each hour.
  • Return Times from Electric Picnic:
    Saturday Night: 23:00, 00:00, and 01:00.
    Sunday: 14:00 – 00:00, every hour.
    Sunday Night / Monday Morning: 01:00 – 14:00, every hour.

Please note: There are no return buses available on Friday.

Wexford:

From Connacht – Galway

From Galway City

TravelMaster are operating a service from Galway City Bus Station to Electric Picnic on the 15th and 16th of August.

Parking

Parking is free.

All car parks will be open for early entry ticket holders from 16:00 on Thursday the 15th, and then for general ticket holders from 9:00 on Friday 16th until 16:00 Monday 19th August 2024. The car park is staffed 24 hours a day during this period.

Please follow the event signage and directions from the Gardaí when arriving to the festival, not the sat nav! There are different routes into the festival depending on the direction you are coming from and whether you are being dropped off, a weekend ticket holder, a family ticket holder, bringing campervan/caravans or a day ticket holder.

All attendees travelling to the event by car are required to park within the car parks they are directed to by the Gardai and event staff.

Parking is free at the festival. These car parks allow access to all general camping areas. No sleeping, camping or fires are allowed in the car parks.

Please note that tow-away vehicles are in operation throughout the event and will remove any illegally parked cars. There will also be a local recovery service based onsite on Monday morning.

 

Directions by Car

Plan out your route before starting your journey to Electric Picnic. Do not rely on Sat-Nav or Google Maps as there are road closures and diversions in place around the event site that will affect your route to the event.

 

From Dublin/North – M7 motorway southbound

  • Event traffic (except buses) will exit M7 motorway at Junction 16 (Ballydavis interchange).
  •  Take the R445 towards Portlaoise and take a left turn onto the R425.
  •  Event Traffic (except buses) continue straight at Bloomfield roundabout on the R425 to Sheffield, Lamberton Junction and Money Cross.
  • At Money Cross turn left and follow directions to the carparks.

From Limerick – M7 motorway northbound

  • Event traffic (except buses) will exit the M7 motorway at Junction 17.
  • Head west towards Portlaoise on the N77.
  • Turn right after 500m onto the Meelick Road, continue straight.
  • At the T-junction, turn right onto the R426 and continue to the next T-junction.
  • Take a right onto the R425 at Sheffield.
  • Continue on the R425 to Money Cross.
  • At Money Cross turn left and follow directions to the carparks.

From Cork – M8 motorway northbound

  • Event traffic (except buses) will exit the M8 motorway at Junction 3 (Manor Stone) and turn right onto the R433 to Abbeyleix.
  • In Abbeyleix, turn left onto the N77, continue through Abbeyleix and turn right onto the R425/Ballyroan Road.
  • Continue to follow the R425 straight through Ballyroan towards Cashel Cross.
  • From Cashel Cross follow the main road to the right onto the R427.
  • Continue on the R427 to Money Cross.
  • At Money Cross  continue straight and follow directions to the carparks.

N80 from the West

  • Event traffic including buses from the West will travel on the N80 through Mountmellick
    towards Portlaoise.
  • Continue on N80 to Lucy Franks roundabout at Fairgreen. Take second exit onto the
    Portlaoise Ring Road.
  • Continue for 3km towards Mountrath Road/R445.
  • At the roundabout take the third exit and continue uphill to the next roundabout.
  • Then take the first exit onto the Fr Brown Avenue/Old Knockmay Road.
  • At Fr Brown roundabout continue straight to the Portlaoise South Circular Ringroad.
  • At the O ‘Doran roundabout take the third exit onto the R426 to Sheffield.
  • At Sheffield turn right onto the R425 and continue to Money Cross.
  • At Money Cross turn left and follow directions to the carparks.

N80 from South East/Carlow /Athy 

  • Event traffic will travel west on the N80 into Stradbally.
  • Event traffic (except buses) will turn left at Court Square onto the Timahoe Road.
  • Cars will be directed into the car park.

Pick-up and Drop Off zone

The pick up and drop off location for the festival is located in PUDO (Pick Up and Drop Off) off the N80. Pedestrian access into site is via the PUDO gate.

This is in the same location as in previous years and can be used by parents, friends, taxis and registered minibuses & coaches.
