Greenway cycle for children from 2nd-6th class of Monreagh National School, Co. Donegal from Carrigans to Derry, stopping for refreshments halfway on 13th May 2025 for Bike Week.
As part of Bike Week, students will explore Bonny Glen Forest and the Dolmen Stone by bike, promoting fitness, confidence, and outdoor learning. The event combines cycling with local heritage, teamwork, and environmental awareness, ending with a picnic. It highlights cycling as a fun, educational, and healthy group activity.
We would hope to ask a local bike expert to come and speak to our pupils regarding bike safety. Pupils would then convene at the local Blueway Trail near Rathcaled in Emper and go on the Blueway as far as Abbeyshrule and back again. A picnic would be organised at a location in Abbeyshrule (playground) as a treat for all who participated. Parents would be welcome to join also.
Students from Ursuline College will embark on a 17km round trip from the school to Strandhill village, Co. Sligo breaking there for ice-cream before returning along the same route back to the school.
Free Event. Come & Try It Cycling Session. Join us for a one-off beginner cycling session designed specifically for over 55s. Weather you are new to cycling or returning after a break this session is a great way to build confidence and get started.
A relaxed 14km cycle from Howth to Clontarf
On Tuesday 13th May, Donegal County Council will host a 6km lunchtime cycle around Donegal Town for Bike Week 2025. Staff will enjoy a relaxed ride, a healthy lunch, and learn about cycling safety, the benefits of exercise, the Cycle to Work Scheme, and try out electric bikes.
Cycle to Work and Bikers Lunch Cycle is a community cycle for workers in Longford Town. This event is geared towards novice and intermediate cyclists. and cycle commuters. Bikes will be provided.

Club Rothaíochta Na Sionainne (CRNS) Ice Cream Spin will take in a cycle of approx 35km from Shannon, Newmarket on Fergus, Sixmilebridge.

Bike Maintenance Workshop from Cavan Cycling Hub to get tips on how to ensure your bike is safe, road ready and help get the maximum from your cycles.
Finn Wheelers will run a women's only leisure cycle with the aim to increase female participation in cycling. This will be an easy paced event with experienced club members leading the cycle event and providing marshalling and support. Bikes will be checked and safety will be discussed in a briefing before the cycle.
Free Event. Join us for a 4 week Bike-Beach-Yoga Programme. Relax and unwind this summer, get out in nature and make the most of the summer evenings. Cycle 6km on the picturesque Greenway to Clonea Beach. Start beach Yoga On Clonea Beach (Hotel End) - Yoga session run by qualified instructor. There will be Yoga Mats provided for you.
Lifford NS plans to meet at the start of the cycle way at the town limit, encouraging parents to drop their children off there and join the walk or cycle to school. Children will cycle or scoot along the footpath to school. On arrival, parents will be offered refreshments, each class teacher will distribute a bell or reflector set to the children, and a road safety lesson will be delivered in class. This initiative promotes active travel, builds awareness of safe cycling habits, and encourages greater community involvement in the journey to school.
The Cycle Bus is to encourage pupils in local schools to cycle to school. The event for Bike Week will encourage maintenance of own bikes and safety awareness. reaching out to families will encourage families to cycle outside of school also and promote the social and health benefits of cycling. Two other local schools and the gardai will particiapate in thes event also so it reaches out into the wider community to get involved.
Inver NS is holding a special event to help children understand road safety while cycling. A local instructor will be invited to deliver a practical session on safe cycling. Pupils will also take part in a short cycle around the local area. An in-school art competition will promote creativity around the theme of bike safety, and relevant safety information will be shared with all students to reinforce key messages. This event aims to build cycling confidence, encourage safe habits, and celebrate Bike Week through both fun and educational activities.
Promote the benefits of cycling while ensuring that the pupils understand and adhere to the principles of Cycling Safety.
