Annual Brosna Bike Race

Races between the classes, facilitated by the teachers with families and caregivers supporting.

At Child’s Play Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath: Our preschool children will be encouraged to bike to school, for those who do not have bikes we can provide them. Then we will have our second bike race along the Brosna View Green, with the aim of children and families

1) reconnecting with the benefits and fun biking bring from a young age,

2) appreciating the safe cycle space right in their community, and

3) creating a permanent structure where bikes can be parked going forward.

This was identified as a barrier following last year’s event – parents were encouraged to bike in to school but we have no space in the small reception area to safely store bikes.

This bike rack can also be use by our senior afterschoolers in the afternoon
