The Transport for Ireland Network is serviced by many operators Nationwide including Bus Éireann, Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, Luas and TFI Local Link among others. TFI Bikes are also part of the network, offering a more sustainable way to travel.
The popularity of public transport in Ireland continues to grow with over 308 million passenger journeys recorded in 2023 alone, a record high for TFI.
Expanding the TFI Network
TFI have increased connectivity to educational, employment and healthcare facilities as well as improved access to the TFI Bus and Rail Network under the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan. The plan has enhanced the range of services available with over 100 new and improved bus services launched in towns and villages.
In Dublin, routes are now operating at higher frequencies with the roll out of the BusConnects Network Redesign. The TFI Network now has new routes and further enhancements to existing routes resulting in greater connectivity across the city. Phase 6a of the Network Redesign is the next phase, due to launch later in 2024.
New Sustainable Fleet
TFI has begun rolling out a fleet of accessible vehicles including fully electric buses and hybrid electric trains.
Customer Satisfaction
In a recently published Customer Satisfaction Survey, 83% of passengers said they had a positive sentiment towards TFI services. Of the total, 39% of users said they were very satisfied, with a further 44% fairly satisfied with the TFI network.
TFI use technology and data to make your journey easier
- TFI Live App: allows you to plan your trip door-to-door. TFI Live provides information about scheduled departures and trips near your current location. The app provides information about bus, train, and tram services.
- TFI Leap Card: is a pre-paid travel card which can save customers up to 30% on public transport fares. There is a TFI Leap Card for everyone – Adult, Young Adult (19-25), Student and Child. Young Adults (aged 19-25) can save up to 50% off public transport fares when using a TFI Young Adult Leap Card.
- The TFI 90 Minute Fare: allows users to travel around the Dublin area and interchange with multiple modes of transport for 90 Minutes with a TFI Leap Card, for just €2 for adults, €1 for young adults (19-25) or students, and 65 cent for children.
- Contactless Payments: Options are being developed to allow passengers to pay for services with contactless bank card/phone payment.
